Hanoch Gutman was a teacher, born in Lodz. A member of the Dror's Hostel on Dzielna Street, he played various roles in the Resistance: printer, liaison officer, and commander of the group responsible for the aborted assassination attempt on Szmerling. He proudly fought in January 1943, and during the Insurrection, was in command of a combat unit in the Brushmakers' sector. He was wounded on 2 May. He died at 22, in mysterious circumstances.
